THE RIU PALACE IS LIKE BEING ON A MOVIE SET WITH ITS DELICIOUS RESTAURANTS, STUNNING LOCATION, AMAZING SERVICES AND A FRIENDLY CAST OF STAFF.

The hotel is situated only a few hundred meters from Santa Maria and sits in luscious grounds with its sister hotel the Riu Funana.

Security:- The hotel has plenty of security guards and to enter the grounds you will require your room key. You can not visit the RIU Palace unless you are a guest. This is mainly due to the 24hr all-inclusive.

Checking in:- You need to complete a registration card, 1 per room. You may get these at the airport if travelling with a tour operator. If not relax with your welcome drink and complete it in the reception hall area.

Porters will take your luggage to your rooms, these guys work really hard so don’t forget to tip!

Check in is 15:00 so if you arrive before, expect to pop your cases in the luggage room and enjoy the facilities.

The hotel only has 6% sea view rooms and the sea is way off in the distance. So do not request a sea view, book and pay for it to avoid disappointment. You will not get one otherwise.

Late Checkout:- Check with reception on the morning of departure. It cost €10 per hour and it may not necessarily be the same room or room type. These are extremely rare so there are showers and changing facilities in the courtesy rooms, situated in the toilets. There is also baby changing facilities too.

Tip! If you really need a late checkout then book an extra day before you come. That way you leave before you are due to check out.

Reception is open 24HRS.

Reception will change £ to Escudos, € to Escudos but as Escudos is a closed currency you can not change it back. Everywhere will take Euros, Escudos or a combination of both. The local rate (nothing to do with the bank) is €1 to $100CVE.

The head of reception is Elvis he is excellent. You can contact reception from your room by dialling 8.

There is a luggage room next to reception. On the day of departure dial 8 and ask the Porters to pickup your luggage. They will move it to the luggage room whilst you have a relaxing breakfast.

Checkout is 11:00

There is a large touch screen in reception with all the activities on. There are lots going on and the hotel has a great animation team.

There is a cash machine in reception which will dispense Escudos only. The machine often runs out of money, however it is replenished Monday afternoons. The machine charges 10% per transaction. These machines work with a 6 digit pin, however just enter your 4 digit pin and wait.

The hotel has a customer service desk. The customer service manager is called Marcos. He can arrange Cava in the room for special occasions and make restaurants reservations. You can also dial 8 from your room to book the restaurants.

There is a small shop in the reception which sells souvenirs and a small range of travel essentials. Toothpaste, Shavers, Suncream etc.

There is a lobby bar in reception which serves hot drinks as well as alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks.

Cappuccino is a patisserie in reception and is open from 10:30 until midnight.

Dietary requirements are well catered for, just speak to reception who will give you a card to show the staff. You can also get a food tour and the chefs will cook just for you. Speak to Victor the food and beverage manager.

The main buffet restaurant is called the promenade, there is show cooking  and the chefs will cook anything fresh for you. It’s amazing!

Waitresses will serve you drinks at your table.

The Krystal Gourmet Restaurant. This is a gourmet style restaurant with a lovely interior. There are 2 sittings 19:00 & 21:00 (Closed Fridays)

Sofia Italian Restaurant. This is an authentic Italian restaurant with some great dishes. There are 2 sittings 19:00 & 21:00 (Closed Mondays)

Santa Maria Restaurant serves continent breakfast, lunch and snacks during the day. At night it is the Steakhouse Restaurant. 2 sittings 19:00 & 21:00.

There is a strict dress code for the specialist restaurants.

Other restaurants and facilities are in the RIU Funana all RIU Palace guests can use the Funana BUT NOT THE OTHER WAY ROUND!

The rooms are fresh and new with an open plan bathroom. The rooms have a free safe, a mini bar and optics. The mini bar and optics will be topped up by house keeping and are part of the all-inclusive. There is also tea and coffee-making facilities.

There is a USB charger next to the bed and a flat screen TV. Some 2 pin plugs do not fit in the sockets due to their diameter. 5amp vs 13amp.

The hotel has a laundry service, there is no iron or ironing board.

Phoning home is €6 per minute but wi-fi is free, so use Skype, FACE time,  WhatsApp etc.

You will get a card for pool towels and can swap them at the towel station close to the pool.

There is a 24hr nurse on site and the doctor visits daily. You will pay for this service. There is a chemist in Santa Maria open Monday to Saturday 08:00 – 20:00. However they run out of stock often. You can not buy antibiotics over the counter.
